Supply of Nickel-Cadmium Batteries for K-Trains and SP-Trains (Contract No.: Q052290)

For K-Trains in TKL, there are two battery types: -

1. 220Ah, total 15 battery sets; and

2. 375Ah, total 30 battery sets.

Deliveries will be made in phases from 2018 to 2019.

For SP-Trains in EAL, WRL & MOL, the battery shall provide 145Ah and the required quantity is 140 battery sets. Deliveries will be made in phases from 2018 to 2022.

Each battery set consists of 76 battery cells connected and assembled in necessary wooden crate and/or metal tray. All of them are at C5 rating standby power supply with guaranteed service life not less than 17 years under the train operating environment. The 5-hour rated capacity of the battery set shall not be less than 80% of its rated capacity at the end of the service life.

The battery sets are to power emergency control, ventilation, lighting, communication and passenger information systems. The nominal output voltage of each battery set is 110VDC and shall be designed and tested in accordance with the relevant electrical and railway standards, which comply with BS476-6&7, EN45545-1, IEC60077, IEC60623, IEC61373, NFF16-101 and NFX70-100 or equivalent. This tender also includes the service for the disposal of the used battery sets to be replaced.

The prequalification process for the tender will take place in March 2017 and tenders will be invited in June 2017.

In order to be considered for prequalification, interested parties having relevant resources, qualifications and experience are requested to express their interest on or before 2:00pm (Hong Kong Time) 28 February 2017 via the MTR Corporation Limited’s E-Tendering System.

Upon expression of interest, the applicants will receive invitation of prequalification via the E-Tendering System. The applicants shall complete and submit all information and details as required in the invitation via the E-Tendering System no later than 2:00pm (Hong Kong Time) on 21 March 2017.
