New Railway Project Teams Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival and Spread Festive Blessings to the Community

The MTR Corporation maintains a close relationship with the local community when developing new railway projects. With the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, various new project teams visited the communities where the projects are taking place, and actively participated in and supported Mid-Autumn Festival activities organised by different community partners to pass on blessings and share the festive joy.

NETWORK EXTENSION PROJECTS

Working Together to Enhance Festive Atmosphere of the Community

The project teams proactively reached out to the community through traditional festive cultural events. The Tung Chung Line Extension (TUE) team joined hands with 60 primary school students from the Salvation Army Lam Butt Chung Memorial School in Tung Chung to create unique festive lanterns, and hung the lanterns on the streets of Ma Wan Chung Village together with the village representative and volunteers from the Hong Kong Community Heritage Foundation.

The Tuen Mun South Extension (TME) project team sponsored and fully supported the “Joyful Get2gether Mid-Autumn Lantern-making Workshop”, a parent-child lantern painting workshop organised by the Tuen Mun District Women's Association. More than 100 parents and primary school students participated in the activity and created interesting and unique three-dimensional lanterns under the guidance of the instructor from the Association. The project team also took the opportunity to introduce the latest project progress to the Tuen Mun residents. The lanterns were hung at the temporary bus stop at Wu King Road, which beautified the community with festive decorations.

Understanding the Needs of the Community and Strengthening Mutual Connections

As a member of the community, the new railway project teams have been keeping close communications with local stakeholders during construction to address the needs of the local community and minimis the works impact. During the festive season, the project teams also took the chance to support the local activities and send our blessings while the TUE and Oyster Bay Station project teams have supported local stakeholders including Tung Chung Crescent and Mui Wo Rural Committee in organising activities to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with the residents.
