MTR Corporation Limited invites qualified contractors to express their interest in tendering for the refurbishment of escalators in MTR stations along East Rail Line, Tung Chung Line, Kwun Tong Line and Island Line. The objective of the refurbishment is to restore the escalators to ‘as-new condition’ and extend the service life for 20 years. The Contract will comprise the refurbishment of approximately 119 units of CNIM, Otis and Mitsubishi escalators.
The tender may be divided into packages based on different types of escalators. Tenderers may tender for all or any of the packages, if the tender is divided into packages.
The scope of refurbishment includes the replacement of the driving systems, idler shafts, shaft bearings and sprockets, steps, step chains, handrails, safety devices, control cubicles, indicator panels, cables and cable containment. The main shaft assemblies of the escalators which consist of main drive shafts, main drive shaft sprockets and raceways shall be reconditioned. All the replaced or reconditioned parts shall be compatible with the existing escalators.
Tenderers of this Contract shall be a registered escalator contractor under the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department and be familiar with and have experience in the refurbishment of escalators.
The prequalification process for the tender will take place in March 2019 and tenders will be invited in June 2019.
In order to be considered for prequalification, interested parties having relevant resources, qualifications and experience are requested to express their interest on or before 15 March 2019 via the MTR Corporation Limited’s E-Tendering System.
