Printmaking is an ancient and beautiful art form that involves a high level of detail and precision. Passengers can admire the delicate, stunning works made through this form of traditional craftsmanship at the latest "art in mtr - arttube" exhibition at MTR Central Station (Entrance / Exit J). The exhibition, entitled "Heartstrings - Print Exhibition 2010", opens today and will continue until 16 July 2010.
Organised by the Hong Kong Graphics Society, the exhibition features 21 art pieces by local and foreign print-makers. Artists applied rich and traditional printmaking techniques with an experimental flair to express their views about life through the artwork. Techniques used include etching, woodblock, screenprint and some mixed media.
"Printmaking is not a well-known form of art in Hong Kong, so for many MTR passengers, this exhibition may be offering them a first glimpse," said Ms Judith Lui, former President of the Hong Kong Graphics Society. "It will allow MTR passengers to become acquainted with printmaking, which requires a lot of effort from the artists."
MTR passengers are invited to visit the "Heartstrings - Print Exhibition 2010" at the arttube in Central Station and appreciate the variation brought by this traditional form of art.
