Vibrant and vivid portrayals of Hong Kong’s dazzling cityscape and its unique cultural heritage are on display in a new ‘art in mtr – arttube’ exhibition at MTR Central Station (Entrance/Exit J) that opened today (21 March 2014).
Glimmering night scenes, captivating harbour views, famous temples and age-old traditions are all expressed through the works of local artists aged 16 to 25 under the theme ‘My Colorful Hong Kong’.
Entitled ‘Hong Kong Aviation Capital - Young Emerging Artist Award 2013’, the exhibition features the entries of 28 semi-finalists in a youth arts competition, including the eventual winners.
“This exhibition is a great example of the range and depth of creative talent in Hong Kong’s younger generation. We are delighted to provide these emerging artists with a platform to showcase and share their artworks for the enjoyment of the many thousands of people who pass by the `arttube’ at MTR Central Station every day,” said Mr Jay Walder, Chief Executive Officer of MTR Corporation.
”The HKAC Young Emerging Artist Award is all about recognising and encouraging young artists and giving them the right exposure to further pursue their ambitions, so it’s great to team up with MTR to present these impressive artworks to members of the public right in the heart of the city,” said Mr Donal Boylan, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Aviation Capital Limited which organised the award.
