Impressions by 10 artists from the Hong Kong Graphics Society that showcase various traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques take the stage at the latest "art in mtr - arttube" exhibition in MTR Central Station, imprinting detailed images of nature, life and the artists' personal stories. The exhibition entitled "Life 'Impression'" will run until 5 February 2016.
"Printmaking is the art of transferring an image through contact with a drawn, etched or carved print material like wood and copper. It involves complicated procedures which many people nowadays would find too challenging and time consuming," said Ms Judith Lui, Chairman of Hong Kong Graphics Society. "Although printing techniques have advanced a long way with technology, our passion for printmaking remains because of the unique touch of this traditional technique that no other art media can replace," she added.
"We are delighted to offer the 'arttube' exhibition as a platform for artists from the Hong Kong Graphics Society to promote the art of printmaking to the public. By holding this exhibition in the MTR, we hope not only to boost public interest in printmaking, but also to add delights to passenger journeys through appreciation of a unique art form," said Ms Linda So, Corporate Affairs Director of MTR Corporation.
"Life 'Impression'" is the latest in a regular series of "art in mtr - arttube" exhibitions. For more than 10 years through "arttube", MTR Corporation has provided a platform for aspiring artists, designers and talented individuals in the creative industries to showcase their works to the community.
