“Huddle” is a community art collaboration between the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation and artist Chao Harn-kae that uses the name and historical background of Wong Chuk Hang as its theme.

In the old days, the Staunton Creek Nullah flowed along Heung Yip Road into the Aberdeen typhoon shelter. Alongside the nullah were paths of yellow bamboo that attracted Ardeid birds to roost and forage. Inspired by this scene, the “Huddle” installation brings back memories of old Wong Chuk Hang.

Led by the artist, a group of youngsters learned graphic design and model-making techniques, and created artworks resembling Ardeid birds in flight both inside and outside the station, resonating with the daily routines of people commuting to and from work.
