A miniature Chinese New Year Flower Market featuring blossoms of auspicious flowers such as narcissus, orchids, lucky bamboo and tangerines has opened at MTR Tin Hau Station. The origami flowers created by folded paper are the latest "art in mtr – roving art" exhibition entitled "An Origami Welcome to Chinese New Year".
Jointly organised by the MTR Corporation and the Hong Kong Origami Society, the exhibition is being held at the upper platform of MTR Tin Hau Station from today (23 January) to 23 February 2008. The exhibition features over 100 Chinese New Year origami artworks, including blossoms symbolizing wealth, good fortune and good prospects, as well as tangerines representing an abundance of happiness.
The items on display are skillfully folded by more than 20 members of the Hong Kong Origami Society. "Through these beautiful festive decorations, we wish all MTR passengers a fruitful and prosperous New Year," said Mr Kwan Chak-lau, Chairman of the Hong Kong Origami Society.
"The origami works in the exhibition look almost like real Chinese New Year blossoms," said Mrs Miranda Leung, General Manager – Corporate Relations of the MTR Corporation. "We invite MTR passengers to drop by the exhibition at Tin Hau Station before or after they visit the Flower Market at Victoria Park to enjoy the festive atmosphere of the Lunar New Year and the art of paper folding."
