Homemade desserts, including a signature cheese cake topped with fresh strawberries, are now available at MTR Sai Wan Ho Station until 19 October 2008, and then at MTR Fanling Station from 22 October 2008 to 16 November 2008. Unusual ingredients keep them eternally fresh.
These ingredients are cloth, wool and beads and the cakes are part of a collection of cloth art that the MTR Corporation and Po Leung Kuk Yu Lee Mo Fan Memorial School have cooked up to celebrate the school's 30th anniversary.
This latest "art in mtr – roving art" exhibition is entitled "Happy 30th Birthday" and runs from today (24 September 2008) to 19 October 2008, and then roved to MTR Fanling Station from 22 October to 16 November. It features handmade birthday-themed crafts by secondary school students with mild intellectual disability aged from 14 to 18 years.
"They have also created embroidered cards and cloth-animal-topped music boxes as presents to their school", said Ms Lam Siu Ling, Principal of Po Leung Kuk Yu Lee Mo Fan Memorial School.
"By developing skilful hands, our students can be better prepared for everyday life. Taking part in creative and group activities helps them learn to communicate and co-operate – and, we hope, to persevere," said Ms Lam.
Mrs Miranda Leung, General Manager – Corporate Relations of MTR Corporation, said "We hope this exhibition will give MTR passengers an opportunity to appreciate the talents and abilities of youngster who are able to overcome their disability and create beautiful works of art."
