Over 40 winning entries from the 30th International Children's Drawing Competition with the theme "Better Environment, Better Life" are now on display at MTR Sheung Wan Station as part of the latest "art in mtr – roving art" exhibition.
The exhibition, jointly organised by the MTR Corporation and the Harbour Junior Chamber, includes works by children from Hong Kong, India, Japan and Mauritius. Also on display are the winning photographs capturing precious moments from the mega outdoor drawing competition held on 26 April 2009 in Kowloon Park.
"This beautiful art exhibit offers MTR passengers the chance to see how children across the world depict their lives and hopes through drawing," said Mrs Miranda Leung, General Manager – Corporate Relations of the MTR Corporation. "It also carries an important message: that pollution and environmental degradation is a threat that is occupying the minds of the next generation."
The elementary group Champion of the 30th International Drawing Competition, 5-year-old Aidan Ingrassia from Hong Kong, hopes to raise awareness on how pollution can impact the world through his work, which features two parts: a green world with many happy faces in contrast to a polluted world filled with sad faces. His work is among those featured in the "art in mtr - roving art" exhibition.
Passengers may view the drawings at MTR Sheung Wan Station from today (5 June 2009) to 1 July and at MTR Kowloon Tong Station from 4 to 27 July 2009.
"art in mtr – roving art" features temporary art exhibitions at different MTR stations. About 10 exhibitions are held each year at MTR stations to promote the appreciation of art and local artistic talent among MTR passengers. The programme began in July 2000.
