The creative fusion of contemporary and classical poems written in Chinese calligraphy will soon be infusing a sense of history at MTR Yau Ma Tei and Hung Hom stations as part of the latest "art in mtr - roving art" exhibition entitled "The Present as Renewal of the Past".
The exhibition includes 13 selected works of 82-year old professional Chinese poet and calligrapher Mr Chen Yi-yu that combine four classical poems by famous Chinese poets and nine poems written by Mr Chen himself. These poems are presented in an easy-to-read script, giving passengers insight into the writers' minds and sharing in his thoughts and feelings.
"Chinese poetry and calligraphy have a rich history and we are pleased to share these historical works with today's passengers," said Mrs Miranda Leung, General Manager - Corporate Relations of the MTR Corporation.
Born in 1927, Mr Chen Yi-yu, also known as Lezhi and Jinweng, has produced countless inspiring poems and calligraphic works over the past several decades. Exploring contemporary issues through the classical genre, he skilfully demonstrates his wisdom and knowledge of classical and modern literature.
Passengers are invited to visit the "art in mtr - roving art" exhibition at MTR Yau Ma Tei Station from today (27 November 2009) to 28 December 2009 and at MTR Hung Hom Station from 31 December 2009 to 1 February 2010.
"art in mtr - roving art" features temporary art exhibitions at different MTR stations. About 10 exhibitions are held each year to promote local artistic talent and the public's appreciation of art.
