Thirteen one-of-a-kind handmade dolls are on display at MTR Sheung Wan Station from 16 December to 16 January.
The special dolls are the creations of secondary school students and a group of people with disabilities from the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Jockey Club Rehabilitation Complex (TWGHs JCRC).
The adorable handmade dolls are selected from the "it's a jolly dolly world'" project presented by new art space, TWGHs i-dArt, where the Hong Kong community can interact with people with different abilities and appreciate their artistic endeavours. Before getting down to work, the doll makers visited each others' homes and places of study to share insight about their daily lives. The newly created dolls are a symbolisation of their friendship.
"The dolls demonstrate the aim of TWGHs i-dArt," said Ms Bellini Yu, the Art Development Officer, TWGHs JCRC. "It's a very good opportunity for both the students and disabled people to learn from each other. "
Mrs Miranda Leung, General Manager - Corporate Relations of the MTR Corporation added: "Christmas is about sharing and the spreading of joy. I hope the meaningful and adorable dolls will inspire passengers during the season of giving."
Closer to the Lunar New Year, the Jolly Dolls will be on display at MTR Tiu Keng Leng Station from 19 January 2012 to 27 February 2012. "art in mtr - roving art" is an on-going initiative featuring temporary art exhibitions at different MTR stations. About ten exhibitions are held each year to promote local artistic talent and the public's appreciation of art.
