Although skipping a meal or making a drawing on the subject cannot eradicate poverty, they can help to raise awareness as a good starting point to tackle the issue. The latest “Art in MTR” exhibition features more than 30 winning pieces from the “10.17 Fast-a-meal” drawing competition which aims to promote sharing with the underprivileged. The drawings are currently on display at MTR Sheung Wan and Sai Wan Ho stations as the exhibition runs from 3 April 2020 to 1 July 2020.
Through participating in the drawing competition, students from kindergartens, primary and secondary schools as well as members of the public were encouraged to pay attention to issues related to poverty and think of possible solutions. The competition was one of the events organised by the Hong Kong Church Network for the Poor to promote the annual United Nations International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on 17 October 2019.
“We are pleased to provide a platform to contribute to poverty relief. Besides enhancing the travelling experience, we also hope the drawings in this exhibition provide some insights to our passengers about the social issues that Hong Kong is facing,” said Ms Linda Choy, Corporate Affairs Director of MTR Corporation.
