Using your Contactless Bank Cards (Credit Cards or Debit Cards) to Travel First ClassFor passengers who wish to travel First Class on the East Rail Line, please validate the same contactless credit card or debit card (or the payment device) used for entering the gate at the "First Class Processor" before entering the First Class compartment. The screen will show a notification message once the Contactless Bank Card has been validated. The processors are located on the platforms of the East Rail Line or beside the gangway doors of the First Class compartment. |

Fare transaction records at a glance through designated "Contactless Bank Cards Transaction Portal"Adopting the "Ride First, Pay Later" model, the system will normally calculate the total accumulated fare for MTR rides daily and collect the fare from passengers accordingly. Answer: No. MTR rides which interchange at Tsim Sha Tsui/East Tsim Sha Tsui station will be considered as two separate single journeys when using contactless credit cards or debit cards for travel.
Answer: No, you must use the same physical bank card or payment-enabled device to enter and exit the gate.
Answer: No, the card reader can only read and connect with one contactless card (or payment-enabled device) at a time. If you have more than one contactless bank card in your wallet, please take out the one you want to use and tap it on the designated processor, rather than tapping your whole wallet.

Passengers can view the daily records through their bank statements. In some cases, the total accumulated fare listed in the bank statements may include rides of more than one day.
Answer: In general, the system accepts contactless credit cards or debit cards issued in Mainland China or Overseas for MTR rides (acceptance may vary by different card issuing banks). All relevant MTR fares will be settled in Hong Kong Dollars in which the exchange rates for related foreign currencies will vary by different card issuing banks. Some card issuing banks may also charge a fee for international transactions, please contact your card issuing banks for details.
Answer: Bank Co-brand Octopus are not compatible with contactless credit card or debit card payment function. Therefore, when passing through the gate, you should use it in the same way as a regular Octopus by tapping the Bank Co-brand Octopus at the Octopus Processor located above the gate for riding MTR.
Answer: This is generally a security measure to confirm the validity of your contactless bank card. MTR won't actually post the charge but the amount may be held for a period of time. Normally, it won't appear as a charge on your bank statement.
