MTR launches limited edition Monopoly board game and blind box ticket sets

MTR launches limited edition Monopoly board game

In their first-ever crossover, MTR and the long-established game Monopoly are jointly rolling out an MTR-themed board game, as well as a blind box ticket set. Incorporating iconic elements of both MTR and the popular board game, the new products are fun and highly collectable at the same time.

Themed on MTR throughout, the "MTR Edition Monopoly Board Game" takes its players on a special rail journey. Held in a decorative tin box with MTR and the long-established game Monopoly graphics, the special edition turns the board spaces into various MTR stations, 4 MTR depots, MTR Malls and MTR Mobile, while the traditional "Community Chest" and "Chance" cards are turned into "Community Care" and "Customer Service Centre" cards to highlight MTR’s caring, customer-centric spirit. The 6 tokens, meanwhile, are in the shapes of T Chai, entry/exit gate, ticket machine and 3 MTR trains. Several MTR train models also appear on the play money.

In addition to the board game, MTR is launching the "Monopoly Blind Box Ticket Set" at the same time. Each set contains one ticket1 and one blind box2. There are altogether 4 ticket designs, featuring Mr Monopoly as an MTR station master, station officer, station assistant and maintenance staff respectively. The blind boxes, which are designed to look like MTR train compartments, can be used for storing and displaying the tickets. Inside each blind box is a figure of Mr Monopoly dressed as an MTR staff, together with an MTR-sign-inspired token that can be used for the "MTR Edition Monopoly Board Game". There is even a limited-edition gold colour to surprise and delight fans of MTR and Monopoly alike.

The products will be on public sale for 4 consecutive weeks starting from 22 July 2023, with one ticket design launched each week. Only limited numbers are available while stocks last. Please see the product information below.

Remarks:

1Each ticket is valid for one single domestic journey on the MTR within 30 days from the day of redeem, except High Speed Rail, Airport Express, East Rail Line First Class, Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations, Light Rail, MTR Bus and MTR Feeder Bus. If the ticket is used to travel to either Lo Wu Station or Lok Ma Chau Station in breach of the Terms and Conditions, the holder is liable to pay the full single journey fare between the station of entry and Lo Wu Station or Lok Ma Chau Station. The ticket will then be returned to the holder for use on a valid journey. Passengers changing lines between Tsim Sha Tsui and East Tsim Sha Tsui stations have to exit and re-enter the system, therefore a new ticket must be purchased for the second stage of the journey.
2There are a total of 5 Monopoly blind box designs. Each box is packaged in such a way that there is no way of telling the design before opening the box. MTR staff will be giving the blind boxes to customers on a random basis. No exchange or request for specific designs will be entertained. Each blind box is sold together with an MTR ticket as a complete set. It should be noted that the design on the ticket does not indicate the design of the figure in the blind box.
