MTR technician apprentice Sze Hau-fai could have become a nurse but she chose to be an MTR apprentice. During the day, she learns technical skills with her classmates. After work, she continues her studies at evening classes sponsored by the Corporation. Thanks to the guidance and support of senior colleagues and mentors, she and her classmates have studied hard and now have a solid grasp of MTR's safety-first culture, as well as problem-solving and teamwork skills. Sze has gained a real sense of purpose and found her vocation in life.
In spite of adverse weather and difficulties on the job, MTR’s overhead line maintenance team remains focused to ensure the smooth operation of the rail system.
We are a community rail line. We are connected with nearby residents. We carry up to 300,000 passengers a day. We are the Tseung Kwan O Line.

The work of the MTR’s Materials and Stores Department shows us how each department in the MTR is important. They are as dependent on each other as the jowls and the jaws. They all work closely together to achieve the best results.
Here we meet the team that repairs and services each MTR train after the system closed down for the night. Working through the night to deal with every challenge - from replacing a motor, to fixing a screw. This is precise and demanding work that requires a high degree of professionalism, allowing the train to be awarded the Train Preparation Certificate it needs before it can get back on the tracks next day to carry passengers to their destinations.
Station Officers play many different roles in a day: map-reading expert, retriever of lost items, even paramedics. They perform every role with passion and dedication, delivering excellent customer service to our passengers.
When most people are sleeping, the railway maintenance technician, whom we called the "Rail Doctor", walks around 10 km every night, checking the tracks to ensure that the system operates safely and reliably.
