MTR has been tirelessly pursuing operational excellence and enhancing travel experiences in a customer-focused manner. We invest substantially in enhancing station facilities every year, from replacing LED lighting and chillers at stations to upgrading the automatic fare collection (AFC) system and new entry/exit gates, aiming to provide a pleasant and unique journey for passengers. | Entry/Exit Gates and Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) System | HK$1.3 billion will be invested to replace 2,400 ticket gates and upgrade the AFC system in the coming years. The new gates feature a slimmer gate body, making walkways for passengers wider, whilst the software also supports more e-payment options for smoother access to stations. |
| Escalators | HK$500 million will be invested to refurbish over 100 escalators in the coming years with the aim to enhance overall service and reliability for swifter and more efficient access to stations. |
| Lifts | HK$300 million will be invested to replace over 30 lifts in the coming years. The new traction lifts will offer faster speed, whilst reducing energy consumption, making access to stations faster, more convenient and environmentally friendly. |
| LED Lighting System | HK$200 million will be invested to replace existing fluorescent lighting with LED lighting in 65 stations in the coming years, which will help reduce 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually and create a more comfortable station environment. |
| Chillers | HK$300 million will be invested to replace chillers in 12 stations in the coming years, aiming to reduce energy consumption by approximately 20% and create a more comfortable station environment. |
| MTR Mobile "Next Train" | MTR Mobile "Next Train" function now covers 9 MTR lines* and Light Rail, allowing passengers to plan their trips efficiently with real-time information to enjoy smart journeys. *covers Kwun Tong Line, Island Line, Tsuen Wan Line, South Island Line, East Rail Line, Tuen Ma Line, Tseung Kwan O Line, Tung Chung Line, Airport Express and Light Rail |
