Ticket Suggestion Terms & Conditions

  1. All suggested routes are based on the route with the shortest travelling time (according to Route Suggestion). Fares may vary if an alternate route is chosen. The journey time, path, service hours and related services may be revised by MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL) at any time due to the operations status without prior notice.
  2. Lines that are covered include the Island Line, South Island Line, Kwun Tong Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Tung Chung Line, Tseung Kwan O Line, Disneyland Resort Line, East Rail Line (Standard Class), Tuen Ma Line and Airport Express.
  3. It is assumed that the same ticket, except for Single Journey Ticket, "Octopus + Airport Express Same Day Return Ticket" or "Single Journey Ticket + Airport Express Same Day Return Ticket", will be used throughout the same service day.
  4. Only the following Tickets, Special Schemes and Promotions within the covered options will be included in the fare calculation for comparison:
    4.1 Ticket types will only cover Octopus, Single Journey Ticket, City Saver, Monthly Pass (Monthly Pass 1 (Sheung Shui / Wu Kai Sha - East Tsim Sha Tsui) / Monthly Pass 2 (Tuen Mun - Nam Cheong) / Monthly Pass 3 (Tuen Mun - Hung Hom) / Monthly Pass 4 (Tung Chung - Nam Cheong) / Monthly Pass 5 (Tung Chung - Hong Kong)) and Airport Express Same Day Return Ticket.
    4.2 Special schemes and promotions will only cover Early Bird Discount, MTR Fare Saver, rebate for every journey (within promotion period), 25% discount for connecting journeys of Monthly Pass (except for East Rail Line First Class Premium), Airport Express Free Return Journey for Same Day Return Trip of Octopus Users (Special Same Day Return Fares for Octopus Users travelling to and from AsiaWorld-Expo on the same day are not included), Airport Express Free MTR Connections, Public Transport Fare Concession Scheme for Eligible Persons with Disabilities and Student Travel Scheme.
    4.3 Fare promotion schemes and tickets not listed herein will not be considered in the fare calculation for comparison and ticket recommendations.

  5. According to the inputted trip details, if Early Bird Discount is applicable to the trip(s), the following reminder will be displayed:
    "Using Octopus to exit the gate between 7:15 and 8:15 a.m. in the following trip(s) can earn a fare discount."
    If the promotion is selected, it will be calculated in the related trip(s) automatically. The calculation will assume that time of exiting the gate in the trip(s) (including interchange between Tsim Sha Tsui and East Tsim Sha Tsui) is between 7:15 and 8:15 a.m.
  6. According to the inputted trip details, if MTR Fare Saver is applicable to the trip(s), the following reminder will be displayed:
    "Waving Octopus over the reader on the designated MTR Fare Saver in the following trip(s) can enjoy a fare discount."
    If the promotion is selected, it will be calculated in the related trip(s) automatically.
  7. Suggested ticket options:

    7.1 Octopus and Single Journey Ticket are default suggested options. Options with fares lower than both default options will also be suggested, except for Airport Express Same Day Return Ticket.
    7.2 All suggested options are calculated based on the selected travel pattern and currently defined Tickets, Special Schemes and Promotions. The displayed options are sorted by total fares in ascending order. The option with the lowest total fares among the suggested options will be recommended. MTR reserves the right to update the scope and display without prior notice.
    7.3 Trip details mentioned in the options are based on the operating hours of the MTR (i.e. from the first to the last train in service on the day). In the case of overnight service, the cut-off time for calculating eligible trips is extended to 0500 hours (entry time) on the next day.

  8. All the suggestions are served as reference only. Actual fare deductions should be subject to the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system in stations.
