Accelerated 3-year Programmes*
Upon completion of graduate development programme, you will take up senior supervisory roles (e.g. Senior Executive / Assistant Manager) in respective functions to develop and strengthen your expertise.
*4-year programme for GT who would pursue chartered engineer (civil) status.

The number of intakes each year varies according to our business needs and the candidates' fit to our selection criteria.

2. Can I apply for more than one programme?
Yes, you can indicate a maximum of 3 programme preferences in the application. Your application will be processed according to the priority of preference you have indicated.

3. What is the difference between graduate trainee programme and other professional expertise programmes?
If you have a particular interest in pursuing a general management path in your career development and are prepared to be assigned to work in different business functions and locations, with high mobility to work in the Mainland of China / overseas, you may consider applying Graduate Trainee (GT) programme.
If you have strong interest and are keen to develop your career in a particular business function to gain in-depth functional knowledge and experience, you may consider applying the functional programmes under the professional expertise stream. -
4. Do I need to hold a relevant degree when I apply for the graduate trainee or other professional expertise programmes?
For Graduate Trainee, Corporate Affairs & Branding Associate, Human Resources Associate and Railway Management Associate programmes, we welcome candidates from any background to join us.
For Graduate Engineer programme, as it is an HKIE accredited Scheme 'A' training programme leading to the gaining of chartership, you should be a graduate in degree accredited by HKIE in disciplines of Civil / Building Services / Electrical / Electronic / Mechanical Engineering and Control Automation & Instrumentation.
For Graduate Quantity Surveyor programme, you should be a graduate in degree accredited by HKIS Quantity Surveying Division.
For Property Associate programme, you should be a graduate in Business Administration / Housing Management / Hotel Management, or with a technical background in Surveying / Town Planning / Structural Engineering / E&M Engineering / Building Services Engineering / Civil Engineering / Architectural Studies.
For Finance Associate programme, you should be a graduate in Accounting / Economics / Finance or Business Administration.
For Internal Audit Associate programme, you should be a graduate in Finance / Accounting or Business Administration.
For Information Technology Associate programme, you should be a graduate in Information Technology / Computer Science / Information Systems / Software Engineering / Data Science, or a related discipline.
For Procurement & Contracts Associate programme, you should be a graduate in Business Administration/ Supply Chain Management / Enterprise Engineering / Strategic Sourcing / Procurement / Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline. -
5. Can I still pursue HKIE chartered engineer status (in disciplines of Civil / Building Services / Electrical / Electronic / Mechanical Engineering and Control Automation & Instrumentation) if I apply for Graduate Trainee programme?
Yes, we can support you with academic qualifications recognised by the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (HKIE) to do so via customised rotation and training arrangement. For those who would pursue chartered engineer (civil) status, the Graduate Trainee programme will be extended to 4 years.

6. If I am currently studying overseas, can I still apply?
Yes, of course. Please take note of the selection criteria and the recruitment schedule of different programmes.
Alternate arrangement like online interview / assessment may be arranged for candidates who are studying abroad and unable to attend interview / assessment in person. -
7. Do you hire graduates with some work experience?
Yes, in addition to fresh graduates, we also welcome recent graduates with not more than 3 years' work experience meeting our selection criteria to join us.

8. If I was unsuccessful in my application in previous year, can I re-apply?
If your application was unsuccessful and you would like to apply again, you are welcome to do so the following year. However, you can submit only one application each year.

9. Can I submit my application through email or other channels?
To ensure fairness and consistency in screening and selection, you must submit your application via our online application system opened from 23 September 2024 (09:00 HKT) to 3 November 2024 (23:59 HKT). Application by other methods will not be considered.

10. How long will it take to receive a response after I submit my application?
We consider your application carefully in light of your stated preference and the job requirements. While assessment details may vary for different programmes, shortlisted candidates may normally be invited to complete assessment / interview by email in 4-8 weeks. Please check your inbox periodically for assessment / interview invitation with subject regarding "MTR Graduate Recruitment" and review your email account settings to ensure these email messages will not be blocked automatically.

11. When do the graduate development programmes commence?
The programmes are an annual intake and usually commence in July. Some programmes may take on candidates earlier depending on business needs and availability of candidates. You will be notified of the details once we have offered you a place.

12. Do I have a choice in choosing our rotations / attachments?
We will take into consideration your individal aspirations, development needs, programme requirements and business needs as a whole when arranging customised development.

13. What training and development support will I receive in the programme?
Besides job rotations / attachments to different business functions / departments of the respective functions to gain in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience, you will receive on-the-job development and support through buddy, mentor and a network of professionals / subject matter experts.
A comprehensive integrated learning and development programme spanning across 3 years will be provided to you, including 2-week corporate familiarisation programme, competency-based management and leadership training (e.g. leadership/business management, task/project management, people management and personal effectiveness), outward bound training, study trip, action learning projects, community projects, corporate events, etc. -
14. What kind of overseas exposure will I receive?
Study trip outside of Hong Kong will normally be arranged for you to gain market insights and expand your horizon.
Depending on the business needs and your professional development at our Corporation, you may have opportunities to contribute to project-based overseas projects, work with our colleagues in other business hubs outside Hong Kong or even be offered a short term oversea posting. Currently, our businesses span across the Mainland China, the UK, Sweden, and Australia.
