Entry Requirements

• Completion of 1st year of Diploma of Vocational Education (DVE) (Full-time Post S3 Programmes) offered by VTC Youth College in a relevant engineering discipline, including Mechanical / Electrical / Building Services Engineering; or
• Completion of HKDSE; or
• Equivalent qualifications

Training Duration

3 years

Programme Details

1. Induction courses (including railway safety rules and railway systems appreciation ) - 4 weeks
2. Multi-skills technical training - 9 weeks
3. Rotational on-the-job training in engineering departments - 65 weeks
4. In-depth training in designated engineering departments - 78 weeks

Remarks: Railway Technical Trainee (III) will receive training under the Apprenticeship Ordinance and will be awarded the Diploma in Railway Maintenance if they can complete the programme and its associated assessment. The Diploma in Railway Maintenance* is recognized under the Qualifications Framework (QF).

   Any personal data which is collected shall be handled in accordance with this Personal Information Collection Statement (“PICS”). This PICS may from time to time be revised, or otherwise changed where we deem necessary.
   If there is any inconsistency between the English and Chinese version of this PICS, the English version shall prevail.
2. Purposes of Collection of Personal Data
   We will collect your name and email address (“Personal Data”) for the purposes of sharing information and latest updates, as well as making arrangements in relation to the MTR Apprentice Training Scheme (the “Programme”) and the process of any recruitment (“Purposes”). You must ensure that all personal data provided to the Corporation are accurate, complete and up-to-date. If you fail to provide the required data or if the personal data provided is inaccurate or incomplete, you may not be able to access the latest information or updates of the programme.
3. Disclosure and Security of Personal Data
   We will take all practicable steps to keep your personal data confidential but we may transfer/assign such data to the following parties:
   • any agent, contractor or third party who provides services to us with respect to matters relating to your application for employment with the Corporation, and
   • any person to whom we are under an obligation to make disclosure under the requirements of any law binding on us.
   Except as mentioned in the above paragraphs, your personal data will be accessible only by staff members of Human Resource Management Department and the relevant line managers of the recruiting department or his/her delegate(s) who are authorised to handle your personal data in the recruitment and selection process. Any persons designated to handle the personal data will be instructed to do so only in accordance with this PICS.
4. Access and Correction of Personal Data
   You may at any time request access to and to correct personal data relating to you in any of our records. A reasonable fee may be charged to you for processing any data access request.
   Any request for the correction of or access to personal data should be addressed in writing to the Personal Data Privacy Officer, Legal - General Department at MTR Headquarters Building, Telford Plaza, Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong or emailed to PDPO@mtr.com.hk.
5. Retention of Personal Data
   We will keep your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the Purposes for which the data was collected. Personal Data which is no longer required will be destroyed 12 months after your provision of the Personal Data.

Craft Apprentice Training Programme (4 years) - Programme Details

Completion of Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or equivalent.

2. Induction courses (including railway safety rules and railway systems appreciation ) - 4 weeks

5. In-depth training in designated engineering departments - 104 weeks

**Craft Apprentices will be awarded the Diploma in Railway Maintenance if they can complete the programme and its associated assessment. The Diploma in Railway Maintenance is recognized under the Qualifications Framework (QF).

Railway Technical Trainee (II)

(Previously named Technician Apprentice Training Scheme)

Entry Requirements

• Completion of VTC Diploma of Foundation Studies - Engineering and its Foundation Mathematics III module; or
• Completion of VTC Diploma of Vocational Education (DVE) (First year of study in full-time post S6 or third year of study in full-time post S3 programmes) in a relevant engineering discipline including Mechanical / Computer and Electronics / Electrical / Building Services / Civil Engineering and its Mathematics 3E module; or
• Level 2 or above in five HKDSE subjects including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics; or
• Equivalent qualifications

3 years

Completion of Higher Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline including Mechanical / Computer and Electronics / Electrical / Building Services / Civil Engineering; or equivalent qualifications

1. Induction courses (including railway safety rules and railway systems appreciation) - 4 weeks
2. Multi-skills technical training - 8 weeks
3. Rotational on-the-job training in engineering departments - 31 weeks
4. In-depth training in designated engineering departments - 61 weeks
