Artist's Concept:
Led by the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation and local illustrator Stella So, a group of 150 students created two thirty-metre long illustrations inspired by the rich history and culture of the Western District.
The fun, carefree style of the artwork depicts in great detail the everyday lives of the local community. Among the many familiar characters, western companies and traditional shops also stands Bird Bridge, Queen’s Road, Water Street, Western District Community Centre, Western District Police Station, The University of Hong Kong and Sai Wan Pier. These illustrations celebrate the bustling and electrifying atmosphere of the Western District by highlighting the unique characters and architecture of the neighbourhood.
