MTR has developed a long-term decarbonisation roadmap and set 2030 science-based targets for our railway and property businesses in Hong Kong with the longer-term goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
Adopting clean and renewable energy is one of our carbon reduction strategies. Hin Keng Station is our trial site to pilot different solar technologies including mono-crystalline rigid and flexible panels, solar glass and solar pavers, to reduce the company's carbon emissions and support the development of renewable energy in Hong Kong.
In addition, we have introduced eco-brick planters in Hin Keng Station, which is an upcycled product made from our operational waste. This demonstrates a circular economy by giving valuable resources a second life and reduce the amount of waste disposed to landfill.
